What do I enjoy making the most? The same thing I started with. It has been almost two years since I made my first sporran (belt pouch).
As you may have guessed, I enjoy wearing a kilt. Yes I have scottish ancestors, my great grandparents were from Scotland. However, I enjoy wearing the kilt because I like the breeze on the knees as well as I enjoy learning about my ancestors.
When you wear a kilt typically you wear a sporran with it. Traditional kilts don't have pockets.
There is something about making sporrans and creating new designs that motivates me to keep going. The challenge of adding different features is very relaxing for me. When I start to plan out a new sporran I look at several features; the type of leather to use, how it will close, will I add any bling or keep it simple. The choices are limitless.
Like my other products, my sporrans are made by hand, including the stitching. I enjoy taking my time and creating my sporrans one step at a time.
